Moerangi Loop

Another classic ride in Whakarewarewa Forest is to ride out to Tikitapu Road, then head up Moerangi Road (the biggest single climb in the forest), and then head back via Pipeline Road:

You do need to be careful on Hill Road and the road heading down to the Te Putake o Tawa carpark as shuttle busses are often running (best to do it before 10 am or after 4), but the rest of the ride is on wonderfully quiet gravel roads.
