The Waikato River Trails #

The Waikato River Trails start at Atiamuri, 45 km from Rotorua. While you could cycle there on the main state highways, here’s a much nicer option via Waikite Valley and Maleme Road, then over the Ohakuri Dam:

The Waikato River Trail has recently been extended to connect Atiamuri Village with Ohakuri Road, so you don’t need to ride on SH 1 any more.
